Raloo Ladies Circle after 40 years of meeting as an organisation disbanded in September 2017.
In that time the ladies raised a tremendous amount of money for charity and for church projects through Caterings, Church Services bringing guest choirs from around the country and Table Quizzes. Thank you to all the ladies over the years who played their part at the forefront or in the background of Raloo Ladies Circle. |
Ladies CircleRaloo Presbyterian Church is very fortunate to have two separate groups for women. The second of these is known as the Ladies Circle and was formed in 1978 by Mrs Barbara Sloan, the wife of the late Rev Jack Sloan.
The ladies meet each month from September to April each year and they focus on serving in the congregation providing much of the catering needs. The ladies are also keen to cater for visiting coach parties, many of whom come during the summer months. We can assure all who come that Raloo’s hospitality is something to be enjoyed. The finance raised from much of their work goes to charity or to the work of the church. The ladies meet on the first Monday night of the month at 8.00pm in the minor hall and have a varied programme with different guest speakers. The subjects covered range from flower arranging to arts and crafts and there is the obligatory cup of tea and biscuit at the end of each meeting. Each year the ladies hold a table quiz which takes place in November and it proves to be a time of great fellowship with increasing attendance each year. The ladies also host an evening service which takes place on the 2nd Sunday of September with a specialist choir in attendance and all of the offering is donated to a worthy charity. The work of the ladies circle adds a great deal to the practical side of the congregation. |
The Ladies Circle held their Annual Praise Service on Sunday, 11th September at 7pm. Guest speaker for the evening was Michelle Purdy, Deaconess from Ballyclare Presbyterian Church. Guest choir was the Harlandic Male Voice Choir and the offering was for the Children's Cancer Unit in the Royal Victoria Hospital Belfast.
Supper was provided over in the church hall and a the total sum raised for the Ladies Circle chosen charity came to a total of £1,100.00.
